Yu-ichi Inoue ‘To be honest, my writing is terrible — perhaps I should blame it on the brush‘
KOTARO NUKAGA(Tennoz)is pleased to present an exhibition of works by Yu-ichi Inoue, ‘To be honest, my writing is terrible—perhaps I should blame it on the brush‘, from February 15 to April 12, 2025. An advocate for calligraphy for all, Yu-ichi had no mentees, but would teach others via letter correspondence, sending works of rinsho as practical examples. These letters and rinsho works will be displayed for the first time in this exhibition, alongside eleven of the single-character works that form the core of Yu-ichi’s calligraphic practice. In addition, Ah Yokokawa Kokumin-gakkō, which draws from the artist’s tragic experience of the bombing of Tokyo, will be on special display.
