OVERVIEW

Oriol Vilanova(b. 1980, Manresa, Spain)is currently based in Brussels.
Vilanova graduated from the School of Architecture at La Salle, Ramon Llull University in Barcelona. Vilanova’s practice is grounded in the collection and documentation of images.
Presenting his works as visual archives or encyclopedic systems, he seeks to deconstruct singular readings of the past. The flea market—his preferred site of research—serves as a key source for his extensive postcard collections, through which he attempts to create a “thinking machine” that provides the conceptual foundation for his installations and performances.
In 2019, Vilanova held his first major solo museum exhibition
in USA at the Buffalo AKG Art Museum, as well as his solo exhibition at the Nouveau Musée National de Monaco. In 2022–23, he presented his solo exhibition at the Kunstmuseum Bochum. In 2023, he participated in the two-person exhibition at KOTARO NUKAGA, and in 2025, he took part in the group exhibition at the Centre Pompidou-Metz. In 2026, as the representive of Spain he presented “Los restosat the 61st Venice Biennale International Art Exhibition, the Spanish Pavilion.
His works are in the collections of the Buffalo AKG Art Museum, the MACBA, the MACS, and the Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art, among others.
