Blair Saxon-Hill(b. 1979 Eugene, USA)currently lives and works in Los Angeles, California.
The artist graduated Reed College, Portland in 2002. While adept in many art mediums including assemblage and sculpture, Saxon-Hill has most recently been consumed with a return to oil painting. Her works are vibrant and playful, and they are filled with an overarching sense of empathy and love for the world and people around her. In her 2024 New York Times review of Blair Saxon-Hill’s exhibition at SHRINE, Roberta Smith stated, “Saxon-Hill, who was born in Eugene, Ore., works with untroubled ease and zero pretension, when painting still lifes of wilting flowers or inhabited interiors.” The artist has exhibited work across the US including exhibitions at Pace Prints, New York; The Shrine, Los Angeles; JOAN, Los Angeles; VENUS Over Los Angeles, Los Angeles; Maccarone LA, Los Angeles; Hallie Ford Museum, Salem; Disjecta, Portland. In 2021, Saxon-Hill’s work was included in the New Museum International Triennial of Contemporary Art, Soft Water, Hard Stone, in New York. She has been awarded fellowships by the Joan Mitchell Foundation, the Ford Family Foundation, the Oregon Arts Commission, and the Hallie Ford Foundation.
