KOTARO NUKAGA to participate in 'Tokyo Jazz Club'

KOTARO NUKAGA is pleased to announce its participation in ‘Tokyo Jazz Club’, taking place from November 1 to November 8, 2026, in a former capsule hotel in Kanda-Nishikichō, Tokyo. KOTARO NUKAGA will present works by Kimiyo Mishima.

Tokyo Jazz Club is an eight-day cultural event in which contemporary art, live performance, music, and hospitality unfold across all eight floors of the building. Inspired by Japan’s jazz culture, from jazz kissas to listening bars, it carries forward the legacy of Basel Social Club, founded in Basel in 2022. The inaugural edition is presented in partnership with Art Week Tokyo.

In the 1970s, Kimiyo Mishima（1932 – 2024）began presenting ceramic works onto which she transferred printed newspapers and advertisements, earning acclaim for their incisive commentary on the information society. From the 1980s onward, she also produced large-scale works such as life-sized utility poles, addressing mass consumption and the industrial waste it generates.
