Rember Yahuarcani
OVERVIEW
Rember Yahuarcani (b. 1985, Peru) is currently based in Lima, Peru. He hails from the La Colonia native community along the Ampiyacu and Amazonas River in Loreto, Peru, and belongs to the indigena’s nations Uitoto, of the White Heron Clan. Since 2003 participating in individual and colective exhibitions in different museums and art galleries in Latinoamerican, North America, Europe and Asia. Winner of the First National Contest of Youth and Child “Carlota Carvallo de Nuñez” in Lima, Peru. Winner of the IX National Contest of Painting of the Central Reserve Bank in Lima, Peru. Winner of the Second II Biennale of the Intercontinental Indigena’s Art in Quito, Ecuador. Yahuarcani has published books “Buinaima’s dream”, “Fidoma and the stars forest”, “The birds and its colors” and “Summer and the rain”. He collaborates writing articles about contemporary indigena’s art in newspapers and magazine. His last works as a curator were presented in the Cultural Center of the University of Lima tittled: “The Canoa: “Melodies from the river- Indigena’s contemporary art”, “Shimimbro: the sound maker” in the Cultural Center of the Garcilaso de la Vega, in Lima, Peru. He takes participation in the 60th International of Art, The Biennale of Venezia, that takes place from April 20th to November 24th, that has as tittle and subject: “Stranieri Ovunque, Foreigners Everywhere”, with Adriano Pedrosa as curator.
