Rasmus Eckhardt
OVERVIEW
Rasmus Eckhardt(b. 1982, Copenhagen, Denmark)currently lives and works in Copenhagen. The artist received a private education by Royal Academy professor Jesper Christiansen. Eckhardt creates ethereal artworks with soft pastels on wood based on his experiences and internal reflections of people he sees or meets in passing. Soft, hazy scenes unfold in his hands, presenting muted locations and figures that eschew individual identity in favor of a profound universality. Yet, his characters somehow feel familiar despite their diffuse and ethereal renderings. Meanwhile, the male figures wandering through these works—lost in the solitude of nature—often evoke paradoxical feelings of both longing and peace. He has mounted solo exhibitions at CCA Andratx in Illes Balears, Spain; SHRINE, New York City; The Plan in Copenhagen, Denmark; Galleri Sandberg in Odense, Denmark; Galleri Benoni, Copenhagen, Denmark.
