Naohiro Takahashi (b. 1991, Hokkaido, Japan) currently based in Kanazawa, graduated sculpture course in Kanazawa College of Art with master’s degree, then achieved his Art PhD degree in 2020 at the same college. Takahashi’s works depict the disconnected bodies and human figures with multiple body parts. These variable bodies sway our sense of “correctness.” The subject, rather than being a singular solid thing, exists in multiple ways as it overlaps with its exterior surroundings, changing in tandem with the endlessly changing outside world. These disconnected images of the human body oscillate at the precipice between self and other, in an attempt to capture the subtle vibrations that occur within relationships.
