OVERVIEW

Larry Madrigal (b. 1986, Los Angeles) lives and works in Phoenix, Arizona. Madrigal is a Mexican American artist who recently completed his MFA at Arizona State University in Tempe. Madrigal captures the everyday landscape as seen in relationships with family and partners and dynamically depicts them into images. The artist’s paintings are a suspension and celebration of the precariousness by which our most mundane daily rituals are balanced on a precipice just above total anarchy. Recent exhibitions include Larry Madrigal: Work / Life, Nicodim, New York (solo), Larry Madrigal: How Dare We Now Live, Nicodim, Los Angeles (solo), as well as exhibitions at Wausau Museum of Contemporary Art, Wasau;  Shemer Art Center and Museum, Phoenix; and Tuscon Museum of Art, Tuscon.
