Dominique Fung
OVERVIEW
Dominique Fung (b. 1987, Ottawa) lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. Fung is a second-generation Chinese Canadian artist who works with the awareness against Western-centered society and ideology. Just as history and narratives change their meanings, Fung intervenes these awareness in to the sensual and visionary world, which reminds us of Surrealism, transforming the forms and meanings through the artist’s own lens. Recent exhibitions include Coastal Navigation, Nicodim Gallery, Los Angeles (solo) and Women of Now: Dialogues of Identity, Memory and Place, Green Family Art Foundation, Dallas, Texas, as well as exhibitions at galleries by Galeria Nicodim, Bucharest; Jeffrey Deitch, New York; and Schlossmuseum, Linz. Selected public collections include the Cantor Art Center of Stanford University, San Franciso; Los Angeles Contemporary Art Museum (LACMA); MOCA, and Hammer Museum, Los Angeles.
