KOTARO NUKAGA、「Tokyo Gendai 東京現代」参加のお知らせ

KOTARO NUKAGA is pleased to announce our participation in the inaugural edition of Tokyo Gendai, an international contemporary art fair to be held at Pacifico Yokohama from July 7th (Fri). This is the first international art fair in Tokyo for about 30 years, and features 74 galleries participating from around the world.

At KOTARO NUKAGA’s booth, we will feature works by 13 artists, including Candida Höfer, who is one of the leading figures of the Becher school that has led contemporary photography, and the New York based artist Tomokazu Matsuyama who works across on multiple media such as painting, sculpture and digital art.

We also showcase works by works of international acclaimed artists such as Nir Hod from Israel whose signature monochrome painting series painted based on the found photos opens the door for people to imagine beautiful narratives that recreate negative histories into a new historical code, while Yuichi Hirako, who explores the ambiguous relationship and questions between nature and humans, will exhibit new a painting and a wooden sculpture.

Photographic work developed by artist’s hand is from Gentaro Ishizuka’s representative series of “Ondulatoire”,which captures light and shadow in the interior scene of the convent Sainte-Marie de La Tourette designed by the architect Le Corbusier and avant-garde composer, music theorist Iannis Xenakis.
